The Study, begun in April 2009, evaluated the transportation needs for the fastest-growing residential market in Maine which currently has the worst traffic congestion in the State. Please join us for an informative discussion by Mr. Jamie
Wilette and the Cianbro-Irby Team on their role in constructing the
MPRP. Central Maine Power is investing $1.55 billion to modernize
its 40-year-old bulk power system. The improvements were designed to
keep the system operating reliably over the coming decades and to
provide the infrastructure for the state’s emerging wind, hydro, biomas,
and tidal energy industries. The MPRP will add to the company’s
network of substations and transmission lines that stretch from the Town
of Eliot on the New Hampshire border to Orrington, where it connects to
transmission lines from northern and eastern Maine The four-year
construction project is expected to create an average of 2,100 jobs per
year and inject more than $1billion in spending into the region’s
economy.

Space Thursday - May 17, 2012 The annual meeting of the Maine Section ASCE will begin after a tour of the Veterans Memorial Bridge spanning the Fore River in South Portland\Portland. The meeting will be at the Slainte Wine Bar and Meeting Space, where we will have a social hour to reconnect and network, followed by a buffet dinner and annual meeting festivities including trivia, videos, installation of next year’s officers, and year end wrap-up.
